Positive’s

  • If you go on Amazon and read some of the Epson Cinema 1060 reviews, you will see how they rave about the Epson 1060 picture quality.
  •  The speakers put out decent sound but to get the full theater experience I recommend hooking it up to surround sound.
  •  If you’re looking to hang it on the ceiling it comes with a bracket to make it an simple install.
  • The set up is easy and set up from the menu button on the remote is very intuitive.
  • In my particular case, the zoom worked very well and I have a full image across the 100 inch screen.

Negative’s

  • The one negative is the fan. The fan is tiny bit loud, but you can’t really hear it much when you have a movie or a game playing over the speakers.

Let’s go over how the Epson Cinema 1060 and how it matches up with the Epson Home Cinema 660 and Epson Home Cinema 760. 

All three home cinema units has 3LCD technology. The light brightness consists of color and white brightness. The 660 and the 760 has a bit higher brightness then the 1060. The Epson 1060 has MHL output. A MHL is short for Mobile High-Definition Link. A MHL is an industry standard for a mobile audio/video interface that allows the connection of smartphones, tablets, and other portable consumer electronics devices to high-definition televisions (HDTVs), audio receivers, and projectors.

The Resolution on the Epson Cinema 660

The resolution on the Epson 660 has SVGA. For those that don’t know what SVGA means, it stands for (Super Video Graphics Array). SVGA was the first among these common projector resolutions, covers a wide range of display resolution standards. It commonly refers to a resolution of 800 by 600 pixels, which creates an aspect ratio of 4:3

Most SVGA resolution LCD and DLP projectors have a physical matrix on their displays consisting of 800 pixels across and 600 down. That means there are 600 horizontal lines. On the other hand, XGA resolution projectors have a physical display matrix of 1,024 pixels across and 768 down—or 768 horizontal lines.

The resolution on the Epson 760 is 720p. The number always refers to the number of horizontal lines on the display. Here’s how it translates out to be: 720p = 1280 x 720. The 720p is also refered to has HD ready or standard HD. The 720p can be formated to a 16.9 widescreen picture. The 720p is two times better then the SVGA.

The resolution on the Epson 1060 is 1080p. 1080p is also known as full HD. HDTV is characterized by 1,920 pixels displayed across the screen horizontally and 1,080 pixels down the screen vertically 1080p is the same as 720p in terms of fitting the 16.9 widescreen picture. The 1080p quality is 2x better then the 720p and 4x better then the SVGA.


Is The Epson Cinema 1060 Right For You?

The Epson Cinema 1060 is hard to beat for the money. It has a lot to offer. This unit is excellent for home theater use. The picture quality is great, even in broad daylight. It is easy to install and navigate through it’s option menu. I search high and low for negative reviews and I can’t find much to talk about. Although I would not recommend to be very portable. I think you will find the size of the unit to be bigger than you would like to transport from office to office.

Overall I give it a thumbs up for your ultimate home theater. Especially if you are working on a budget  for your home theater. Excellent quality for the money.
